Some time ago, in a photowalk, I met a guy from France. He used to put darkroom tape over the brand name of his Nikon D700 to protect his camera from robbers in Paris…

Actually my girlfriend uses the camera. When I used it, well, everybody looked at the red thing, which is not good for unobtrusive activities :)

I dunno, the colours don’t really do it for me. I prefer a camera that’s unobtrusive as possible. Even on all of my black cameras, I find myself putting darkroom tape over the brand names and logos and so on.

Almost all old Pentax lenses will work. You just need adapters for some of them.
Ask in the shop, usually adapters are a little bit expensive. But definitively your old lenses will work.

i’m stillcontemplating on buying this model k-x. would my old lenses (manual pentax lens)work with this dslr cam?

It's easy. Just go to the menu and select the C set. Change the "Expanded Sensitivity" to ON and you are set. Now you can put ISO to 12000. Be careful because this setting force the sensor and all ISO will get an increased sensitivity. So ISO will be actually higher than the normal value. Check this examples. Click for original size (6M each!) ISO 1200 ISO 6400 ISO 800

Hi Aalovar, don’t worry about using the Pentax in Europe/Spain. For the Batteries: I used to use all kinds of Batteries, cheap or expansive. The Pentax eats them for breakfast. Now i use eneloop accus, and i am happy. Still using my first set and waiting to get them drained. One last thing, by the way: i intentionally bought my Pentay because it runs on AA Cells, because i do my photograpy outdoors … cheers ted

Las de lítio duran más y no tienes que esperar a que estén totalmente descargadas para poder cargarlas de nuevo. De todas formas no confundas el formato de las baterías con el tipo de batería. Puedes comprar baterías de litio del formato AA y obtendrías los mismos resultados que cualquier otra DSRL. Esta Pentax es incluso más versátil dado que, no solo puedes usar baterías de litio, sino que también puedes ponerle cualquier alcalina que encuentres en un momento de urgencia.

Zuco, me han gustado mucho las fotos.Estoy interesado en la cámara , pero tengo dudas por el tema de la alimentación, que no sea por batería de litio, sino por pilas alcalinas. Es realmente un problema las baterías? Duran lo mismo que la batería de litio? Gracias

Is that a pentax super takumar lens? where did you find it?

I took a 50mm 1.8F lens, but it’s a really old one. I have to use an adapter but it works fine. I still didn’t have time to test it. Maybe this weekend I will have the opportunity to give it a try :)

I got this camera around xmas time. I have yet to see one around with flamboyant color combinations as in the pamphlet, would be interesting to see.

Did you get your hands on a fast lens? or plan to pick up another Nikon?

It uses normal AA batteries, so the only thing you have to worry about is the charge adapter. The camera comes with normal high power batteries, so you have to buy rechargeable ones apart. I think you won’t have any problem to use it in Europe. The memory card is SD and the menu is in almost all the languages.
The only thing you have to worry about is the warranty and the Pentax tech support in your country.

Very interesting entry…
It looks like it could pretty much fit someone like me that has never tried a reflex before.
I’m thinking about getting it in my next (first) trip to Japan where (if kokaku isn’t wrong) I could save up to 200€ for it! (the unique lens kit) Do you know if I could have any problem using it back in Europe/Spain? (concerning equipment or something) In-compatibilities with other lens sold here?
